Agathiyar Maharishi has said that "Golu worship is to realize that women should be respected by all during these nine days of Navaratri".
"In the upcoming times, there will be various problems between the spouses. There will be differences of opinions and arguments. To avoid this, on the last two days of these 9 days (navratri) - Vijayadashami and Saraswathi Puja, you should praise the maiden girls, give them clothes, turmeric & Kumkum. Give whatever you can to the poor maidens. They should be invited home and worshiped as goddesses and given food. You should give them heart-pleasing food and sweets. If you do this, you will receive the perfect grace of the Devi!
Navratri worship is done to realize this. Devi will come to your houses on these nine days. One should go in search of poor married couples and maiden girls and help them. Do charity as much as possible!
If you welcome and invite them to your home, give them sweets, feed them well, help them as much as you can and do whatever to please them, Devi will be happy and bless you!
Annadhanam (food) should also be given to the needy as much as possible on those days. Do charity and increase the punyam!
